Hex breaker has been modified.

Energy Cost 5
Recharge Time 5 seconds

This skill basically makes the owner immune to hexes for all intents and purposes. Which is great except it’s not as efficient as just having one or two people with remove hex because it’s self only. Good skill though, especially if it’s in a build that is only easily countered with certain hex spells.

Thats my 2 cents.

I found it to be an excellent self-preservation skill for my PvP monk. Gets rid of those Lighning Suges and Backfire very well. The best part is that I don't even need to put points into Domination to use it. Sure, it doesn't last as long...but as a monk, I get hex so often that the timer doesn't have that much effects.

Since its a stance and not enchantment, I can recast it easily without fear of getting Rend.

This is especially useful in areas highly populated by Riders. Just turn it on before you start to attack and it recharges by the time you need to use it again.

I know it's available from a quest, but I don't remember which one; if anyone can post that here, it'd help everyone trying to get this great skill (some for a second time ).

I believe it's "Eye for Profit" available at Druid's Overlook.

I remember this becuase we had a Mo/Me in our party who didn't want to do the quest becuase he thought hex breaker was "garbage". To which I responded, "Are you mad???!? You're a monk! You get hexed six ways from sunday as soon as you walk into PvP."

There are 2 reason for a monk to be mesmer seconday in PvP combat.
#1 Is the fact that insperation holds many ways to get energy, there making you able to last a long match more easily.
#2 Is this skill. Without having to worry much about hexes, it makes you more capable of survinng the enemy's wrath. So any Mo/Me without Hex Breaker, is something evry mesmer enjoys.

monks get raped by mesmers and necs only because of hexes, whoever thinks hex breaker is garbage on a monk needs to have their account taken away then shoved down their throat along with mark of subversion and backfire......this skill saves me every time in pvp as a monk. only downside is it is domination and not inspiration, then it would be super killer with energy steals for a monk.

Actually lately I havent been Hexing Monks that much. Energy Burn and Surge, Signet of Weakness, to get rid of alot of their energy. Then start using my staff and lighting spike attacks.

Been Back-hexed by one too many monks as of late.

This skill is just so fricking useful i'm still wondering why it is not an elitespell. Especially when i see the lousy shield of deflection in comparison (just to mention one lousy elitespell ^^).

BUT... the ongoing mesmer and necro rape by natures renewal kinda stopped the hex line drop dead in the tracks and made the few remaining mesmers all go energy denial. While NR was around with its overpowered ways i rarely... REALLY rarely ever got hit by a hex and the mostly NR took it off me within seconds. So i guess, after NR has been fixed the necros and the mesmers will have to get used to hexes again.

Whats a bit overpowered about hexbreaker is its casting time with the low recharge. Basically to get a hex through you have to throw two waste hexes aforehead just to break hexbreaker for that small opportunity of getting ONE hex through. On the other hand it's a stance, your average war could probably break it.
A funny thing i noticed, lately some people do manage to get hexes past hexbreaker without it activating.

if you've allready done the quest before you changed to a mesmer like me, you can still buy this skill from the trainer in Amnoon Oasis.

well, i'm a bit confused now! This should obliterate hexes. But for example, Backfire is an Hex Spell. And i often get backfired just after 1 sec i casted this hexbreaker!!
it seems a crap!
I also read another site; in this i found Backfire (and all other mesmer craps) named as an Hex. GWGuru tells itz an HexSpell.
I still got life siphoned and backfired! so.....where is the trick?
thx for help

that's because hex breaker only stops the next hex cast on you. if you get chain hexed, it only stops the first one and ends. you probably got hit with 3 hexes. the first one was stopped and ended the stance, then life siphon and backfire got through.

Recast it. It's a stance, so you can do it anytime, instantly, and it has very fast recharge. Immediately after it's gone and you see some Mesmer targetting you, just spend 5 mana to prevent something really nasty. It's not like people only use 1 hex on monks - and good ones will open with some weaker hex to remove hexbreaker.
